Softball Game Preview: Serrano Diamondbacks vs. Hesperia Scorpions

The Serrano Diamondbacks are taking a road trip to square off against the Hesperia Scorpions at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hesperia took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Serrano, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Serrano turned things around against Burroughs on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Burros by a score of 7-4.

Sam Conan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jamie Motley, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Wendy Arauz, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Serrano was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burroughs only posted a batting average of .300.

Meanwhile, Hesperia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to Oak Hills.

Angie Villalobos was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Isabela Duffy also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Hesperia's loss dropped their record down to 5-14-1. As for Serrano, their record is now 9-10.

Serrano took their win against Hesperia in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Diamondbacks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
