Basketball Recap: Marion County Takes a Loss

Marion County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Jasper Vikings 92-25. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Vikings are ranked 47th).

When it comes to explaining why Marion County lost, don't look at Tye Madison. Despite the final result, he posted ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Madison is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Philip Wilson, who scored seven points and six rebounds.

Marion County's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Jasper, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion County will host Vina at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Marion County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. As for Jasper, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Cullman at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Jasper's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 contests.
