Preview: Rome Free Academy Black Knights vs. New Hartford Spartans
Rome Free Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the New Hartford Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rome Free Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
Rome Free Academy posted their biggest win since December 19, 2023 on Wednesday. They blew past Fayetteville-Manlius 64-36 at home. Rome Free Academy pushed the score to 47-23 by the end of the third, a deficit Fayetteville-Manlius had little chance of recovering from.
Rome Free Academy found their leader in underclassman Haylee Bostwick, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Isabella Cunningham was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to New Hartford, who are still winless after their fourth match. They took a hard 47-32 fall against Oneida two weeks ago.
Rome Free Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for New Hartford, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Rome Free Academy beat New Hartford 51-40 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rome Free Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
