Volleyball Recap: Lake Nona Comes Up Short

The Lake Nona Lions came up short against the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs on Saturday and fell 2-0.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Cardinal Gibbons scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-17.

Rylan Beard paced Lake Nona's offense, picking up five kills. Beard got some help from Jayden Serrano and his 15 assists. Matthew Davis controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Lake Nona has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Lake Nona didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Winter Park on the 8th. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Pompano Beach on the 8th.
