Recap: Loyalton Grizzlies vs. Plumas Charter Warriors
The Loyalton Grizzlies had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Plumas Charter and snuck past 55-53. That's another feather in the cap for Loyalton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Loyalton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aidan Shelby out in front who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and six blocks. Shelby is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Gus Petterson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Plumas Charter saw an underclassman step up: Dalton Bentz scored 21 points along with six assists. Bentz has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Braden Harris, who scored 13 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Plumas Charter were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Loyalton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Plumas Charter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.
Loyalton will head out on the road to face off against Chester at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Plumas Charter, they will be playing at home against Providence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
