The Eastern Warriors will face off against the Clermont Northeastern Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
While Eastern's win against North Adams wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Green Devils a 1-0 shutout on Monday.
North Adams' batters probably weren't too happy with Allie Grooms, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up zero walks). Grooms has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Eastern's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Shelton, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Chloe Hauck also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Clermont Northeastern made easy work of Felicity-Franklin on Friday and carried off a 15-3 win. Considering the Rockets have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Brown was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Bella Wilson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addisyn Baker, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Clermont Northeastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Clermont Northeastern now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Eastern, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Everything went Eastern's way against Clermont Northeastern in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Eastern made off with a 14-8 win. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
