Basketball Recap: Benton Skates Past Byrd with Ease

Benton won the last time they faced Byrd and things went their way on Friday too. The Benton Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Byrd Yellow Jackets 51-22. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Benton's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 19-10. As for Byrd, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-22 record this season.

Benton will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Haughton at 6:00 p.m. As for Byrd, they will venture away from home to face off against Pineville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
