Basketball Recap: Palisades Pumas vs. West Cabarrus Wolverines

Palisades gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They skirted past the West Cabarrus Wolverines 46-43. The Pumas have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolverines, too.

Palisades was led to victory by Jayen Reeves and Matthew Dillard. Reeves earned 13 points, while Dillard had 11 points plus seven rebounds and two steals. What's more, Reeves also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Aurek Fenn, who earned eight points along with five rebounds.

Kanari Caldwell and Camari Mccrae certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Caldwell went 6 for 10 en route to 13 points plus eight rebounds, while Mccrae scored 13 points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palisades will square off against East Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Palisades is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for West Cabarrus, they will take on Piedmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Cabarrus is looking for their season's first win.
