Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Has No Trouble Against LKY

On Monday, the Holy Cross Cougars strolled past the LKY Saints with points to spare, taking the game 76-59. The Cougars pushed the score to 60-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the Saints cut but never quite recovered from.

Despite the loss, LKY saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maddox Benge went 7 for 16 en route to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Monty Edwards, who posted 11 points.

Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for LKY, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which lines up perfectly with their 6-18 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will head out to take on Fairdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for LKY, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Highlands Latin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in LKY's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
