Baseball Recap: Peninsula's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Peninsula won against Bishop Montgomery on Friday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Peninsula Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Mary Star of the Sea Stars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 3, 2024.

Jasper Hill looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaron Monzon, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Brenden Jarrard was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

The victory was the third in a row for Peninsula, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Mary Star of the Sea, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Peninsula will head out to square off against Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mary Star of the Sea, they will host North at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
