Baseball Preview: Dyer County Choctaws vs. St. George's Gryphons
The Dyer County Choctaws will challenge the St. George's Gryphons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dyer County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Dyer County needed a bit of extra time to put away Covington. They skirted past the Chargers 5-3. The Choctaws haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Talon Messer made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other pitching news, Easton Ozment looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
