Southwest Christian and Mayer Lutheran are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Southwest Christian Stars will square off against the Mayer Lutheran Crusaders at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Mayer Lutheran likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Southwest Christian beat St. Peter 59-55.

Meanwhile, Mayer Lutheran came tearing into Tuesday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 68-67 W against the Bulldogs. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southwest Christian's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Mayer Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Southwest Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Mayer Lutheran in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 66-59. Will Southwest Christian repeat their success, or does Mayer Lutheran have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
