Football Recap: Smethport Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bucktail + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smethport). Everything went their way against the Bucktail Bucks on Friday as they made off with a 53-28 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-6.

Smethport got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonah Ganoe out in front who rushed for 120 yards on only ten carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 63 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Smethport's defense and their five sacks. Bucktail's QB won't forget Zach Hungiville anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Hungiville has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 14 times he's played.

Smethport's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Bucktail, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Smethport will welcome Kane at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bucktail, they will head out to challenge Otto-Eldred/Oswayo Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bucktail will be up against Otto-Eldred/Oswayo Valley's rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
