Baseball Game Preview: Lynbrook Vikings vs. More Knights

The Lynbrook Vikings will face off against the More Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Lynbrook's offense. They came up short against Saratoga on Thursday, falling 8-0. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Silver Creek typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday More proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Raiders 12-1. Considering the Knights have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sean Selway made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zep Cortese, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Andrew Corr was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

More is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lynbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-19.

Lynbrook was able to grind out a solid win over More in their previous meeting back in March, winning 6-1. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
