The Mynderse Academy Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mynderse Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Thursday, Mynderse Academy made easy work of Penn Yan Academy and carried off a 25-3 win. That 22 run margin sets a new team best for the Blue Devils this season.
The team relied heavily on Kyah Lajewski, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mercedes Santana, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Mynderse Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Palmyra-Macedon suffered their biggest loss since May 1, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Aquinas Institute, falling 10-3. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Red Raiders' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Elianna Rouland made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to doubles, as she's now hit two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Mynderse Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Palmyra-Macedon fell to 4-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mynderse Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Palmyra-Macedon struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
