Baseball Recap: Isle of Wight Academy Wins Going Away Against Arcadia

Isle of Wight Academy barely beat Arcadia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers put the hurt on the Firebirds with a sharp 17-9 victory on Monday. That looming 17-9 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chargers yet this season.

Wyatt King and Jason Chapman did most of the damage at the plate: King got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Chapman went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Chapman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reed Rogers, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Isle of Wight Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Arcadia, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Isle of Wight Academy will welcome Greenbrier Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gators' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Arcadia, they will venture away from home to square off against Nandua at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
