Softball Recap: King's Academy's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

King's Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt San Mateo on Tuesday. The Knights blew past the Bearcats 6-0. The Knights not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 11-0).

Not much got past Katia Nesper, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep San Mateo off the board. Nesper has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Thompson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Sophie Giles was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

The victory (which was King's Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for San Mateo, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. King's Academy will square off against rival Hillsdale at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.6, the Fighting Knights 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, San Mateo is set to challenge their familiar foe Burlingame at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
