Baseball Recap: Union County Comes Up Short

Union County was the 5-2 winner over West Nassau when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Fightin' Tigers came up short against the Warriors on Wednesday, falling 13-4.

Jeffrey Brugh and Kendall Carter stepped up to the plate in a big way. Brugh scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Carter scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that Carter snagged this season. Another player making a difference was DEVIN DIGGS, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Union County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for West Nassau, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Union County will head out to challenge Santa Fe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Fightin' Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for West Nassau, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Benedictine at 4:00 p.m.
