Baseball Game Preview: Sedro-Woolley Cubs vs. Lynden Lions

Sedro-Woolley is 1-8 against Lynden since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Cubs are taking a road trip to take on the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Lynden took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Sedro-Woolley, who comes in off a win.

Sedro-Woolley took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Bellingham. The win continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Bayhawks: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Lynden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 17-1 to Mount Vernon.

Sedro-Woolley pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lynden, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 7-6.

Sedro-Woolley came out on top in a nail-biter against Lynden in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Cubs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
