Softball Recap: Bear River Now 23-1 over Last 24 Games

Bear River had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Payson Lions on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Bears have won 20 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kate Wilson tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luci Roche, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Aubree Fry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bear River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Bear River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 23 of their last 24 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Payson, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 22-7.

Coincidentally, Bear River and Payson will both be playing Ridgeline the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Riverhawks at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, while the Bears will play them later in the day, at 12:30 p.m.
