Volleyball Recap: Fenton Takes a Loss

Fenton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Streamwood Sabres. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bison of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Fenton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-13.

Daniel Garfias paced Fenton's offense, picking up nine kills. Garfias got some help from Michael Wrona and his 21 assists. Wrona and Garfias didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Fenton's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Streamwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Fenton will challenge Hersey at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Streamwood, they will face off against Geneva at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sabres are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Vikings a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
