Preview: Clarendon Broncos vs. Sunray Bobcats
The Clarendon Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Sunray Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Clarendon sitting on ten straight victories and Sunray on four.
Clarendon had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged Gruver out 34-32. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Meanwhile, Sunray's offense rose to the challenge against a Skyrockets defense that boasted an average of only 10.69 points allowed. Sunray enjoyed a cozy 36-22 victory over Wellington on Friday.
Armando Lujan was his usual excellent self, rushing for 179 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Arnold Mendoza was in the mix too, providing Sunray with two touchdowns.
Clarendon pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.5 points per game. As for Sunray, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
Everything came up roses for Clarendon against Sunray in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 as the squad secured a 43-6 victory. Does Clarendon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sunray turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
