Baseball Game Preview: Buffalo Grove Bison vs. Hersey Huskies

The Buffalo Grove Bison will venture away from home to take on the Hersey Huskies at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Buffalo Grove is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Buffalo Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Prairie Ridge and fell 4-3.

Buffalo Grove saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Dudek, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Hersey has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.39 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They fell 10-5 to Glenbrook South. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Diego Garcia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Groberski, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Hersey's loss dropped their record down to 17-5-1. As for Buffalo Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Buffalo Grove has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hersey struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Buffalo Grove couldn't quite finish off Hersey in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Bison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
