Mesa Ridge proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Coronado Cougars 8-7. This was payback for the Grizzlies, who suffered a 1-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ozcar Walker and Brandon Bittner did most of the damage at the plate: Walker went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles, while Bittner got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs. Bittner continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Riehl, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Mesa Ridge's record now sits at 7-10. As for Coronado, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Mesa Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
