Softball Recap: Maroa-Forsyth Comes Up Short

Maroa-Forsyth fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Pleasant Plains on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. It was the first time this season that the Trojans let down their fans at home.

Adelyn Simmons made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two triples, three RBI, and two runs while going 4-for-5. Those triples were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Larner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Maroa-Forsyth's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3. As for Pleasant Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maroa-Forsyth will host Rantoul at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pleasant Plains, they will welcome PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bluejays have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
