Basketball Recap: Chicago Washington Takes a Loss

If Chicago Washington was feeling good fresh off their 41-20 takedown of Hansberry last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chicago Washington Patriots were beaten by the Butler Lynx 93-4 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 649th, while the Lynx are ranked 116th).

Xyanna Walton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Butler, dropping a double-double with 28 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Walton's ninth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Cyra Conwell, who posted 18 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Chicago Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Butler, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-10.

Chicago Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Butler, they will venture away from home to face off against Hillcrest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Butler knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Hillcrest likes a good challenge.
