Softball Recap: Bedford Wins Going Away Against Juniata Valley

While Bedford put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Juniata Valley. The Bisons were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Hornets. The result was nothing new for the Bisons, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Emma Byers made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Leah Nee was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

Bedford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juniata Valley only posted a batting average of .087.

The win made it two in a row for Bedford and bumps their season record up to 6-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Juniata Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2-1.

Coming up, Bedford will face off against Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Juniata Valley, they will square off against Huntingdon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bearcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
