Softball Recap: Clear Fork's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Clear Fork dropped their record down to 10-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shelby Whippets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Clear Fork saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miley Shafer, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Another was Mya Perry, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Shelby, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games.

On Shelby's side, Alyssa Booker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. Booker has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katie Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Braylee Sturts was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clear Fork beat Shelby by a score of 7-1 on Wednesday.
