East L.A. Classic between Garfield and Roosevelt at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to feature Super Bowl XLV halftime entertainers.

The Los Angeles Times reported Friday that the Black Eyed Peas will be performing at halftime of the East L.A. Classic high school football game between Garfield (Los Angeles) and Roosevelt (Los Angeles) at the famed Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 21.

In 2011, the musical group headlined the Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

will.i.am, the Black Eyed Peas lead member, grew up about five minutes from Roosevelt and has consistently given back and been a role model for his hometown.

The schools have played annually since 1925 with the exception of 1939-48 and 2020.

Roosevelt is 6-0, largely due to seniors Johan Alfaro, Isaiah Wright, Jared Andrade and Naszeer Reed, who have combined for 22 rushing touchdowns this year. All four have at least 300 yards on the ground.

Garfield also has a strong rushing attack with junior Damian Cornejo, who has 741 rushing yards for the 4-2 Bulldogs.
