Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Escondido Charter

Escondido Charter had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Orange Glen Patriots 16-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-3 back in March.

Liam McGinty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Curtis Williams, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Matthew Hydar was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Escondido Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Escondido Charter's record is now 8-1. As for Orange Glen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7-1 record this season.
