Softball Recap: Oak Knoll Royals vs. Summit Hilltoppers
Oak Knoll extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-5 in the process. They came up short against the Summit Hilltoppers, falling 13-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on April 3rd.
Oak Knoll saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlin Wincko, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That double was Wincko's first of the season. Abby Han was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Summit, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.
On Summit's side, Charlotte Yarnall was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. What's more, Yarnall posted three hits, the most she's had over her last ten contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Putnam, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles.
Looking ahead, Oak Knoll will head out on the road to take on Hanover Park at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Summit, they will be playing at home against Kent Place at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
