Softball Recap: St. Bernard Wins Going Away Against Montville

St. Bernard had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Montville on Thursday. The Saints put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 12-0 win. The matchup marked the Saints' most dominant victory of the season.

The result came thanks to Kaitlyn Scribner's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, St. Bernard let Anabelle Wenzel and Lena Byers run wild. Wenzel went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Byers went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Byers a new career-high. Madison Scribner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

The win was the third in a row for St. Bernard, bringing their record up to 9-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Montville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Bernard will take on Killingly at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Montville, they will face off against Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
