Baseball Recap: Magnolia Wins Going Away Against Valley

Magnolia barely beat Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Eagles blew past the Lumberjacks 15-5 on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Blue Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Finn Loy was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Loy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Conner Carpenter was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Magnolia's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Grimes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Magnolia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Magnolia's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Magnolia will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lumberjacks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
