Avon took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Elyria Pioneers a 10-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won five in a row.

Blake Elder looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Colten Fitch was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kyle Crell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Elyria dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
