Softball Recap: Charleston Wins Going Away Against Magazine

Charleston barely beat Magazine the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Rattlers 11-3 on Monday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Rattlers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Hannah Ward spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Charleston let Ella Dodson and Gracie Smithson run wild. Dodson went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Smithson went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Smithson a new career-high. Emery Rowland was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Charleston now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Magazine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Coming up, Charleston will head out on the road to challenge Elkins at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Elks have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Magazine, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against County Line at 4:00 p.m.
