Baseball Game Preview: Lytle Pirates vs. Cotulla Cowboys

Lytle has gone a perfect 10-0 against Cotulla recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lytle Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cotulla Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. The matchup will give Lytle their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.

On Tuesday, Lytle was able to grind out a solid win over Karnes City, taking the game 11-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

The team relied heavily on Toby Davila, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Lytle's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Patlan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Cotulla came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past George West 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cowboys have posted since April 5, 2024.

Davyn Deltoro was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Cotulla's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6-1. As for Lytle, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Lytle beat Cotulla 8-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Lytle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cotulla turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
