Recap: Mather Rangers vs. Holy Trinity Tigers
After losing to the Holy Trinity Tigers the last time they met, the Mather Rangers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Mather strolled past Holy Trinity with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 40-22. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mather.
Leading Mather to victory were Temi Yesufu and Kayrhianna Jackson. Yesufu scored 14 points, while Jackson scored 14 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Yesufu has scored at least 25% of Mather's points. Another player making a difference was Janelle Eliot, who scored six points.
Mather pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Holy Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mather will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ogden International at 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Ogden International is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. Holy Trinity is on the road again on Thursday and play against Christ the King at 6:30 p.m. on December 21st.
