Basketball Game Preview: Mary Persons Bulldogs vs. Fayette County Tigers

Two dominant guards in Dee Grier and Jackson Rutley are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mary Persons Bulldogs will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Fayette County Tigers at 7:30 p.m.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-38, which was the final score in Mary Persons' tilt against Sandy Creek on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Patriots are ranked 21st).

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Fayette County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Troup County with a 68-64 win. Winning may never get old, but Fayette County sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Fayette County pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Mary Persons, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
