Soccer Game Preview: Woodville-Tompkins vs. Savannah Country Day

Woodville-Tompkins is 0-4 against Savannah Country Day since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Wolverines will square off against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Woodville-Tompkins is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against St. Vincent's, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Woodville-Tompkins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while St. Vincent's are ranked 68th).

Meanwhile, Savannah Country Day unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Richmond Hill who was credited with the victory. The Wildcats got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Savannah Country Day's three.

Claudia Barrow and Reese Bailey scored both of the Hornets' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 15 goals.

Woodville-Tompkins' defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Savannah Country Day, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.

Woodville-Tompkins might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Savannah Country Day when the teams last played back in March of 2018. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
