Soccer Game Preview: Willow Canyon vs. Maryvale

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Willow Canyon duke it out with the Maryvale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Willow Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Willow Canyon had just enough and edged Centennial out 2-1. The Wildcats' winning goal came courtesy of Brynn Kelly.

Meanwhile, Maryvale came up short against Cesar Chavez on Thursday and fell 3-1.

The win got Willow Canyon back to even at 6-6-1. As for Maryvale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5-1 record this season.

Everything went Willow Canyon's way against Maryvale when the teams last played back in January of 2015, as Willow Canyon made off with a 7-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Willow Canyon since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
