Softball Recap: Richmond-Burton Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Richmond-Burton never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Johnsburg Skyhawks. This was a revenge game for the Rockets: when they faced off against the Skyhawks on April 8th, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

The result came thanks to Hailey Holtz's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Kunzer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lilly Kwapniewski, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Richmond-Burton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johnsburg only posted a batting average of .045.

Richmond-Burton's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Johnsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Looking ahead, Richmond-Burton will host Wauconda at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Johnsburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Sandwich at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
