Softball Recap: Pineville Triumphs

While Pineville put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Leslie County. The Mountain Lions walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Eagles. The win continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

The result came thanks to Rachel Howard's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 24 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Pineville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Slone, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run. Jaycee Caldwell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Pineville's victory bumped their record up to 10-6-1. As for Leslie County, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-14 record.

Coming up, Pineville will be playing at home against Berea at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Leslie County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Powell County at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
