Volleyball Recap: Delano Falls Short of Avenal in the Playoffs + How To Watch

Delano and Avenal squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Delano had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 3-2. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Buccaneers when the teams met back in October of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Delano actually scored more points across those five sets (102-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 14-25, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Delano saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Areli Villarreal had 12 digs and two aces. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Villarreal.

The defeat snapped Delano's winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 16-13 record. As for Avenal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-13-2 record this season.

Delano does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Avenal, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Wonderful College Prep Academy on the 30th.
