Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Maple Mountain's 18th in Last 19 Outings

It's playoff time, and Maple Mountain had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Viewmont Vikings a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Golden Eagles have won 21 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kavyn Carter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cy Chrisman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cole Erickson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Maple Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Viewmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-12.

Coming up, Maple Mountain will face off against Spanish Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dons will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Viewmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
