Softball Recap: Liberty Takes a Loss

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 12-2 to the Chester Hambletonians. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 13-1 to the Hambletonians when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Megan Schmidt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. Those hits were her first of the season.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Chester, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Liberty will host Livingston Manor at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Chester, they are taking a road trip to challenge Eldred at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hambletonians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
