Basketball Recap: Landon Gasseling's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Potter-Dix over Paxton

Potter-Dix was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 59-36 to the Paxton Tigers. The Coyotes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Potter-Dix's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Gasseling, who posted 15 points and six rebounds. That was a full 41.7% of Potter-Dix's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Trenton Hickman was another key player, putting up four points along with eight blocks and seven boards.

Tanner Hebblethwaite continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Paxton, posting 29 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Hebblethwaite continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddex Mcconnell, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Potter-Dix's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Paxton, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Potter-Dix wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-52 win against Leyton on the 17th. As for Paxton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-54 loss against Perkins County on the 17th.
