Football Preview: Mission Oak Hawks vs. San Luis Obispo Tigers        
        
		
                                                         The Mission Oak Hawks will head out on the road to  square off against  the San Luis Obispo Tigers  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one:  both  posted some lofty  point totals in their previous games.
 While Hawks fans will have to keep waiting for their  team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's  season opener. They took their  matchup on the road  on Friday with ease, bagging  a  31-0 win over Sanger West. Given the Hawks' advantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings  (they are ranked 241st, while the Hornets are ranked 775th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
  Achillies Sierra was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 76 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Another back making a difference was  Malachi King, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown.
 Mission Oak wouldn't let Sanger West keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Mission Oak can thank  Ben Rios and  Ethan Rodriguez for forcing both of them.
 Meanwhile, San Luis Obispo  took care of business in their home opener  on Friday. They came out on top against Mt. Whitney by a score of  34-23.
  Jace Gomes went supernova for San Luis Obispo, rushing for 154 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 73 yards and two touchdowns.  Colbin Garrison handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a  rushing touchdown.
 Garrison wasn't the only one working in the  rushing yards department: San Luis Obispo was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 285  rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  rushed for at least 166  rushing yards in 12 consecutive  contests  dating back to last season.
 Mission Oak didn't have too much breathing room in their  game against San Luis Obispo  in their previous matchup  back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with  a  30-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mission Oak since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
