Softball Recap: Woodbridge Comes Up Short

If Woodbridge was feeling good fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Gar-Field on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings came up short against the Mountain View Wildcats on Thursday, falling 8-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 8-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Brooke Dutton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

Woodbridge has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodbridge will challenge Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.88 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mountain View, they will venture away from home to challenge Colonial Forge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
