Quitman was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Northeast Jones. The Panthers came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.

Quitman extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 5 this week by beating the Tigers, 55-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for Steven Bynum's team.

Laurel's dynamic duo of Keon Howard and Chris Horne proved tough for Northeast Lauderdale to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Howard threw for 217 yards and five touchdowns and Horne had 111 yards receiving. Ocatvious Cooley helped Laurel's passing attack out by catching six balls for 80 yards.

Josh Davis was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 258 yards as the Panthers defeated the Trojans. Franklin Jones also contributed to the rushing game with 84 yards on the ground.

Laurel's Howard and Cooley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Howard has thrown for 1459 yards this season, while Cooley, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 46 catches for 735 yards. Quitman's Jones leads the league in rushing yards with 1450.

Two of the top units in 4A Region 5 will face off this week when the Panthers take on Newton County. Quitman's offense has racked up 371 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Cougars have allowed only 153 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Newton County takes on the Panthers. As it stands, Jackie Williamson's team is in third, while Quitman is in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Cougars take on the Panthers. Newton County has allowed 153 points this season, while Quitman has given up 179. The Cougars allowed 13 points last week as they topped West Lauderdale.

Todd Breland's team and Northeast Lauderdale played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Todd Breland's team eventually emerging with a 38-35 victory. Howard ran for six yards in the win.
