Basketball Recap: Weston Kinney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grand Traverse Academy over Cadillac Heritage Christian

Grand Traverse Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cadillac Heritage Christian Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 607th, while the Patriots are ranked 271st).

Grand Traverse Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Weston Kinney, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Those three steals gave Kinney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Coby Bilderback, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 13 points.

Grand Traverse Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Cadillac Heritage Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Grand Traverse Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 36-33 victory against Traverse City HomeSchool on the 7th. As for Cadillac Heritage Christian, they will venture away from home to take on Walkerville at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th.
